You are God's Masterpiece!

I have heard many well-crafted, ear-tickling sermons, with witty titles. I won’t cite any examples as I might, inadvertently, offend someone. Today, I sat down to write, wondering what I could write that would be like some of those sermons. But God’s response to me as I opened my laptop was that my responsibility is not to try to be impressive. He made the acid test clear for me: “Does it please God?” So, does that mean I should just write and not worry about whether it is well-written, grammatically accurate, and flows? No, it does not mean that at all. He said I must give Him my very BEST like Abel did! But let Him choose the subject, the topic, and give me what He wants me to share from His heart, not my thoughts!

 

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT).

You are God’s Masterpiece!         

There is a great quote that is often attributed to Aristotle, though there is no real evidence that he said it. The quote: “Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution, and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.”

While the authorship of that quote is questionable, there is no question about who we are. We are told by the divine authority of his Holy Word that we are God’s workmanship, his masterpiece! Thus, we have been designed, developed, and crafted with superb skill! We are not mere happenstance! We are no accident! We are a result of God’s high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution! We are His masterpiece! And our purpose is to please Him in every way that we can.

 
So, what have you done today that reflects who you are? What are you doing now; what will you do in the time that remains before you recline for the night that makes clear who you are? Who will you pray for? Who will you encourage? Who will you bless? You are not just fearfully and wonderfully made, but God has also created you anew in Christ Jesus to do the good things he planned for you long ago. Every time you are faced with any obstacle, remember who you are! Whenever you stand before an audience of thousands or just one or two, let it be known that you are God’s masterpiece!
