What are you facing right now that seems insurmountable? I can think of several that I am facing. But I want to keep this short, so I will not list them here.
“And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, ‘LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this great multitude” (2 Chronicles 14:11 NKJV).
No Matter What, Trust God!
In the adult men’s session of Vacation Bible School at our church last night, we were asked to be introspective about whether we as men often try to resolve matters on our own rather than relying on God. Honestly, do you try to handle it by applying your own insights, or do you trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding?
Asa, the king of Judah, was confronted with an enemy force that had an army more than twice the size of his own, with superior weapons. The odds were 100 percent against him! But he cried out to the LORD whom he had served faithfully. He cried out with confidence in God, saying,
“It is nothing for You.” In other words, the situation was insurmountable for Asa, but it was nothing for God. So Asa said, “We rest on You.” There are other ways of saying it, but I like his use of the word, “rest.” That means he wasn’t agitated, frustrated, anxious, nor afraid. He rested his case on the ALL POWERFUL God of the angel armies! And his enemies fled and were all destroyed!
Is there anything more that needs to be said? No matter what, trust God!
