May 2, 2024 Memory Check:
Are there ever times when you think, “Well God, this situation is too tough, too big. No one can get me through this one?” Maybe you have never questioned God, but Moses, yes, the great prophet, did
“And the LORD said to Moses, ‘Has the LORD’s arm been shortened?” (Numbers 11:23a).
Memory Check:
“I’ve seen too many victories to let defeat have the last word!”
Moses was one of the greatest prophets, if not the greatest, to ever live, a man with whom God spoke face to face (Numbers 12:8). He had seen the great signs and wonders God performed in Egypt as He took down the Egyptian deities one by one with the plagues. He witnessed the parting of the Red Sea and communed with God on Mt. Sinai until his face shined as Jesus did on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Yet, when the people complained and demanded meat, he felt helpless. When God promised to provide a month’s worth of meat for all the people, Moses thought it necessary to remind God that there were 600,000 men, besides all the women and children. Moses questioned God’s ability to provide meat for so many people. “Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them…or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?” (Num. 11:22)
We do the same thing, don’t we! Despite all He has done for us in the past, we still question whether He can get us through what we are facing NOW. We are dressing better, driving better, living better, and going places we never thought we would go all because of the hand of God on our lives. Still, we question God’s ability to get us through the obstacle that is in our way right now.
God’s answer is the same. Memory Check! “Has the LORD’s arm been shortened?” Keep in mind also that the Scriptures regarding the experiences of great prophets like Moses, Abraham, and Elijah questioning God, “were written for our instruction [to admonish and equip us], upon whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Cor. 10:11 AMP).
You can get through this! God can, God will bring you through, if you will just do a memory check and recall that you have seen too many victories to let defeat have the last word!
