Gaps in the Wall of Righteousness, July 2, 2026

Weathered concrete wall with rusty nails and small plants, highlighting the beauty in decay.

“I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30 NLT).

Gaps in the Wall of Righteousness

In ancient Greece as in most of the known world at the time, cities built walls around their borders for protection from enemy forces. The Greek city states were at war with each other all the time and only ceased fighting partially, once every four years so the Olympic games, a five-day event then, could take place.

Sparta, a city state in ancient Greece did not build a physical wall around its borders. Sparta claimed to be protected by a wall of men, the roughest, toughest men in the ancient world who were chosen at birth and began military training at age seven. You may have read or at least heard about the battle where the Spartan King Leonidas with just 300 men held the narrow mountain pass at Thermopylae for three days against an army of some 300,000 Persians led by Xerxes I! When the Persian king demanded the Spartans lay down their weapons, Leonidas reportedly responded, “Come and take them!”

Though we, the righteous, are often mocked and scorned, like the Spartan men, we are the wall of protection for our nation and the world. So why is our nation in the dire condition it is in right now?  It is because there are holes in the wall. There are gaps in the wall of righteousness. Wow! And God is looking for someone, not to build a physical wall around the borders of our nation, but to repair the breaches in the wall of righteousness that guards the land.

Who will stand in the gap and not compromise on righteousness and holiness? Who are the ones called by His name who will repent and turn from their wicked ways, humble themselves, pray and seek God’s face?  Posting sick mocking memes and making up names for a wicked narcissistic leader is nothing more than stooping down to his level of wickedness. We are commanded to “Be angry and sin not” (Ephesians 4:26a). We can speak out boldly against evil without compromising with the devil and doing the same things that sinners do.

Whose responsibility is it to repair the breaches in the wall of righteousness that guards our land? We, the righteous people of God, the ones who are called by His name, we are the ones! We must save our nation by repairing the holes in the wall of righteousness.

Focus Quote:“‘Run up and down every street in Jerusalem,’ says the LORD. ‘Look high and low’ search throughout the city! If you can find even one just and honest person, I will not destroy the city.’”

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man [or woman] availeth much” (James 5:16b)

Just pause and pray wherever you are. There is no call line or zoom link that you need to remember or retrieve and connect to. Just connect to God and pray! We and many others will also be praying with you. There is power in agreement!

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).
