May 23, 2024 “Be Careful What You Talk About.”

I was all set to write about the challenges of getting older! But, as Kurt Carr sang,
“God blocked it!” My thoughts might have been relatable for some, but they
were not God’s thoughts. His thoughts are higher than mine (Isaiah 55:9)!

Did you see Sinbad’s recent statement regarding the stroke he suffered in 2020 and

is still   recovering from? “Be careful what you talk about,” he cautioned as he drew a
connection between a joke he made in 2010 about having a stroke.

WORDS!

Watch your tongue!  “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth and keep
the door of my lips” (Ps. 141:3).

Optimize listening and minimize speaking! “So then, my beloved
brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath”
(James 1:19).

Respect the power of spoken words! “Death and life are in the power of
the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21).

Defeat the devil with the Word! “Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with
you, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the LORD your God,
and Him only you shall serve”(Mt. 4:10).

Spread the Word!  “What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad
when daybreak comes.  What I whisper in your ear, shout from the
housetops for all to hear!” (Matt. 10:27)

It’s tempting to talk about getting old and forgetful and weak, and infirm, but be
careful what you talk about! Watch your words!

Focus Quote: “Words can be your salvation. Words can also
be your damnation” (Matt. 12:37 MSG)
