“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments” (2 Corinthians 10:4 NLT).
God’s Mighty Weapons!
Generally, when several inches of snow cover my driveway, I am able to clear it away with my snowblower in a few hours. Not this time. After getting about seven inches of snow, which I struggled to blow away from my driveway during the storm, sleet began to fall. The next day, we had some four inches of rock-solid ice on top of the snow. The snowblower would only roll on top of the ice. My first thoughts were, “There is nothing I can do with this. This is too hard to tackle.” But another powerful Voice (Psalm 29:4) whispered to me to use different tools. I got a flat-blade pitchfork and a straight-edge metal shovel and began to cut through the ice and break it up so it could be removed.
I spent seven (7) hours without taking a break on Monday breaking up that hard stuff so I could open my driveway which is rather expansive and quite long. As the sun got closer to the horizon, my gloved fingers were starting to feel frost-bitten and the muscles in my arms were so strained that I could barely hold the tools, but I refused to quit while praying that God would help me to finish the job before nightfall. My darling wife came out and helped me as the evening shadows began to surround us. Together, we got it done!
We face challenges every day. But sometimes the difficulties we encounter are like trying to remove several inches of snow from a driveway with four compacted inches of ice on top. We can’t use ordinary methods. We have to take a different approach. As servants of God, we are often confronted with strongholds that must be broken down. But we cannot do it by ourselves, nor with ordinary human weapons.
We need some help, and we need God’s mighty weapons. With His weapons, we are able to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning that say we cannot do what He has assigned our hands to do. And sometimes there is some hard stuff in us that has to be broken up and removed–those rebellious thoughts that can prevent us from being fully obedient to the will of God, the hindering thought that this is too hard to tackle. That’s when we need to listen for the powerful voice of the Lord and then pick up His mighty weapons and begin to knock down the strongholds of the enemy and break up that fallow ground.
Focus Quote: “Break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you” (Hosea 10:12b ESV).

Keep on: Standing on the Promises!
And Please continue to join us for our 5:14 pm prayer. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). Just pause and pray wherever you are. We and many others will also be praying with you. There is power in agreement!
