September 21, 2024, The LORD is my Shepherd!

I would be traumatized now if I did not remember that “The LORD is my shepherd” (Psalm 23:1).

“You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear? Don’t you remember anything at all?” (Mark 8:18 NLT).

The LORD is my Shepherd!

Jesus, as the Angel of the LORD in the Old Testament who went before Moses and the Children of Israel in the wilderness as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, had observed people behaving as amnesiacs throughout the ages. After they saw God rescue them from slavery in Egypt with a mighty display of power through ten amazing plagues, they came up against the Red Sea and panicked! They were completely overcome with fear and despair and lashed out angrily at their God-appointed leader.

Then, in Mark 18, the disciples who had witnessed Jesus feeding a multitude of over 5,000 with two little fish and five small pieces of bread were stressing about not having any bread on the boat.

Jesus asked them a series of critical and piercing questions. All those questions point to one thing, “Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? (Mark 8:17)

What do we do when we face difficult and unfathomable situations? Do we panic like the Israelites and suddenly become amnesiacs? Or do we remember that the LORD is our Shepherd? He has brought us through so many times before! We only need to remember, trust Him, and rest in Him!

Have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!

Do not stress! Just REST in the Lord!
